The ninja turtles have risen from the sewers and are back on TV! After learning about the new show, I looking up some of the old stuff and decided to take a whack at it. You will probably be surprised to learn I was never a fan of the original cartoon of "The teenage mutant turtle", I though it was extremely childish. I also never collected any of the toys, but I do like all the bizarre characters they produced. The two other TMNT animated series that were made I did watch and liked a lot but like most thing I do, I go back to the original stuff.

So sit back and think of the fun and joy these character enhanced your childhood and let your memories take you to that happy time. If you didn't have the turtles in your past, then maybe you can enjoy them now.

I did a drawing of Spider-man with a nose and "Popeye" arms as couple of years ago and I loved it. Now I have put that doodle in his world with all his friend and foes.

Obviously I used a lot of "Popeye" reference in this project with some tweaking on other design elements. 1930 Fleischer Studios cartoon have been a favorite of mine and this was a good excuse to dabble  in that world. And of course I did some mock-up screen shoots to get a glimpse of what it might look like on the big screen at that time in history.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did drawing it.
